STATE RUNNER UP COCOA TIGERS CLAW UP THE TORNADOES

October 28, 2018
David Rodgers

Good Evening Tornado Nation and Fans, this is Mr. Friday Night David Rodgers Voice and Play by Play Announcer for your Bradford Tornadoes bringing you this Edition of the WEAG Eagle Country 106.3 Blog for Tornado Football 2018.

There is another saying or wives tail and that is “Be Careful What You Wish For” and all of us in Tornado Nation and Tornado Fans and also to include my self and Big Kevin Howe thought that we may have a shot against the 2017 Class 4A State Runner Ups the Cocoa Tigers as they came here to David Hurse Stadium after going 3-0 on the longest road trip of the year for the Bradford Football Team. The thought was that we could beat this team was the number one goal but even to keep this game close and Coach Tomlinson and his staff and along with this young Bradford Football Team was that we are still not quite their as a football team to be able to compete with those top State’s Teams and the Cocoa Tiger Football Team gave the Tornadoes a dose of their own medicine and man-handled them as they ran away with a 44-7 victory and showed our Tornadoes if they want to advance in the Class 4A State Playoffs they will need to get better on stopping up tempo offenses and putting together our on offensive plays against good defenses.

The 4TH Ranked Class 4A Cocoa Tigers (5-2) rolled into David Hurse Stadium and put on a performance that we have not seen since the Raines Vikings the Class 4A 2017 State Champions came into David Hurse Stadium and throttled our Tornadoes 53-13 in the State Semi Final Game last year and I now see why this Football Team Is So Good. They run the up tempo offense as good as anyone and it showed as the Tigers rolled up 451 yards of total offense and forced the Tornadoes to play catch up all night and just could not as the Tigers took a 28-0 halftime lead with no answer from the young Tornadoes.

The Tigers kept the Tornadoes Defense off balance all night and The Number One Defense in the State with 13 Turnovers / Takeaways in that 3 Week Span and the Tigers Defense forced the Tornadoes into 4 Turnovers themselves that accounted for 28 Tiger Points.

QB DJ Arroyo had a Great Passing Night as he gashed The Tornadoes Defense as he went 21-25, 277 yards, 3TD’S as he hit his leading WR Willie Gaines often as he had 10 Receptions for 122 Yards and 1 TD and his other WR Isiah Jones 6 Rec for 92 yards and 1 TD and they also ran the ball well to keep the Tornado defense off balance as they rushed the ball 27 times for 131 yards and 2 TDS with the main RB Caziah Holmes 10 Rushes 62 Yards and 1 TD.

For the bright spots for Bradford our young men never gave up they fought the Tiger Team all the way to the need of this ball game because our young men have no quite in them and that is attested to our Coaching Staff led by Head Football Coach Brain Tomlinson and our young men that a lot of heart and is instilled in them not to ever give up. That is the Moxie of our Football Team. SR RB Jeremiah Vaughan had the lone TD for the Tornadoes with a 2 yard TD Run after the Tornadoes drove 73 yards on the Tiger Defense. SR QB Adrian Ciena was 6-11 passing for 76 yards and SOPH RB Eric Smith had 16 Carries for 87 Yards and Vaughan had 5 Carries for 31 Yards and that Lone TD.

Noe the Tornadoes will get a much need bye week to get some of our players that are nicked up some minor and nagging injuries. SOPH QB Pedro Carter and SR OL Gavin Woods had some injuries and hope to be able to come back at least for the State Playoff Race.

Now an Off Week and then the Tornadoes will travel to Jasper to Play the Hamilton County Trojans on Friday Oct 26th with the Pregame Show at 715 and Kickoff at 730 and you can catch all the Live Play By Play and Color Commentary with Mr. Friday Night David Rodgers and Big Kevin Howe and the States Best Producing Team of Chuck Kramer, Lyn Veliz, and Mary Kramer right here on WEAG Eagle Country 106.3.
